Privacy policy
the plain-English version comes first
Last updated October 14, 2026. This policy covers this website and the Jot app, both from Relive, LLC.
The short version
Jot keeps your recordings, transcripts and notes on your Mac. We don't run servers that receive them, we don't have accounts, and we don't collect analytics. Optional features that use an outside service are off until you turn them on.
Information Jot keeps on your Mac
Audio recordings, transcripts, speaker names and voice profiles, your notes, your to-do list and your settings are stored on your Mac, in Jot's app folder and in folders you choose. Speech recognition and voice matching run on your Mac. Relive, LLC can't see any of this information.
When Jot uses the internet
- Speech model download. The first time you use transcription, Jot downloads its speech recognition model. Only the model file is downloaded; nothing about you or your recordings is sent.
- Update checks. Jot checks GitHub for new versions of the app. This request contains no personal information beyond what any web request includes, such as your IP address, and is subject to GitHub's privacy policy.
- Optional Claude features. If you add your own Anthropic API key and press “summarize” on a meeting, Jot sends that meeting's transcript and notes to Anthropic's Claude API to write a summary. If you turn on smart formatting for dictation, Jot sends each dictation and the name of the app you're typing in to the same API. Both features are off by default. Your key is stored in the macOS Keychain. Anthropic handles this data under its own terms and privacy policy.
Permissions
Jot asks macOS for access to your microphone and to screen and system audio recording, to record meetings; optionally to your calendars, to fill in meeting titles and attendees; and optionally to Accessibility, to paste dictated text into other apps. You can change these at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
